Saving our planet: We have to do better!

In my saving our planet articles

I try to remind everyone how crucial it is that we constantly improve ourselfs when it comes to reducing our carbon release and not using sustainable solutions.

There are communities around the world who have excisted over 1500 years cause they have lived in a sustainable lifestyle,

and look at some of the worlds most incredible constructions which are made from only what was available around them.

What about restricting peope to only be allowed to use an axe to build their house?

😯 😆

At least it would be a lot less resources used but it would make a lot of people lose their jobs.

As I begin to pen these words,

six hours shy of midnight,

we are on the cusp of entering December 2022,

with the festive season of Christmas rapidly approaching.

It’s fascinating to observe

how unaffected one can be by the Christmas marketing

and the colossal advertising campaigns across various media platforms when one avoids mail advertisements,

live television, and remains at home.

Some might interpret my stance as a complete withdrawal from social engagement,

and to some extent,

I might concur with that viewpoint.

Often, people become engrossed in the holiday frenzy,

shopping for dozens of gifts for their children or grandchildren,

preparing Christmas feasts,

and bustling about town when the central Christmas tree is illuminated.

Amidst all this,

they overlook the grim reality that our planet is teetering on the brink of irreversible damage.

The threat of pandemics looms large,

and the hope of restoring Earth to a habitable place in the universe seems to be slipping away.

For decades, Earth has been sending distress signals through a shifting climate,

marked by erratic weather patterns and increasingly frequent extreme weather events.

The melting of polar ice caps at both poles and the relentless burning of rainforests in South America are alarming signs.

It’s worth noting that if half of the world’s forests were to vanish,

the remaining half would become so carbon-saturated that it would eventually release

all stored warnings from scientists since the 1970s, we have failed to heed their advice and follow a more sustainable path.

Reflecting on this document,

which I began over six months ago (and have expanded upon in various blogs on my website jarlhalla.com),

I am continually inspired to write further.

I must note that since the dawn of agriculture and deforestation,

we have depleted so much forest that only about 43% of the world’s forests remain.

It’s a terrifying thought, especially considering that if 50% of the world’s forests disappear,

trees will begin to release carbon due to our excessive emissions.

The future of AI could be bright ifguidedbytherighthasHowever,

ifmisuseinconflictsorcontrby the wrong individuals,

I firmly believe it could lead to our downfall.

But let’s envision a more optimistic future where we haveharnessed AI technology positively.

In this future,

we are on the verge of mastering the neurological transfer between humans and machines.

Time will become a relic of history, and we’ll enter a new era free from its constraints.

Intergalactic exploration will be within our reach,

unencumbered by time or envy,

as everyone will have equal opportunities.

Imagine the thrill of traversing the universe without temporal barriers!

Such inspiration should motivate us to alter our current lifestyle and consumption habits.

As of yesterday,

we began using more resources than the Earth can replenish annually;

we would need 1.7 Earths to sustain our present consumption.

What holds us back from taking action?

Are we trapped within our comfort zones,

complacent in the belief that everything will resolve itself?

Who bears the responsibility for our consumption and waste?

Is our fear of change and the unknown greater than our desire to preserve our planet and secure humanity’s future?
